The Ice Fields in the Aysén region are considered the third largest reserve of freshwater in the world, after Antarctica and Greenland.
The marvelous Exploradores Glacier, with a length of 23 km, is part of the Laguna San Rafael National Park, descending from the Northern Ice Field, where the highest peak in Patagonia, Mount San Valentín, is located. For over 15 years, it has been possible to take a guided ice hike lasting 6 to 8 hours. To touch the ice, you first walk through the evergreen forest, then the moraine, and finally the ground of dirt and stones transforms into pristine ice. At that moment, you put on crampons and realize that you are nothing less than walking on the vastness of a glacier in the Northern Ice Field.
The multiple shades of blue and turquoise in the ice, being immersed in this breathtaking setting, as well as the professionalism of the local guides, are the reasons why you will remember this experience forever.
